Badgley Phelps among top 50 on CNBC Financial Advisor 100 list

by Badgley Phelps | Oct 07, 2022

Navigating uncertain financial times can be a daunting task without a financial advisor, which is likely why the pandemic drove more people to begin working with one. However, finding an advisor with whom you fit and has your best interests at heart can be equally challenging. That’s why we’re honored to be among the CNBC Financial Advisor 100 again for 2022. One of only two Washington state firms on the list, this is Badgley’s third appearance on the CNBC FA 100 and the firm’s first time in the top 50.

“Badgley Phelps was built on client service, and we’re dedicated to helping clients live their best financial lives,” said Badgley Phelps Director of Client Service Kelsey Lichttenegger. “The CNBC FA 100 provides investors with valuable information to assist in their search for the right financial advisor. We’re honored to have made the list once again.”

According to CNBC, “Now in its fourth year, the CNBC FA 100 recognizes those advisory firms that best help people navigate their financial lives. We consider the services firms offer and their specialties, among other factors. And for the first time this year, we factored in the number of certified financial planners a firm employs, recognizing the expertise that designation lends to planning offerings.” CNBC also provides that the CNBC FA 100 ranking “is meant to be a starting point for individual investors who are looking for a financial advisor.”

Working with AccuPoint Solutions, CNBC narrowed the list to 100 from an initial list of 39,818 registered investment advisory firms using data culled from SEC filings. Methodology involved analyzing specific data points including:

  • Advisory firm’s regulatory/compliance record
  • Number of years in the business
  • Number of certified financial planners
  • Number of employees
  • Number of investment advisors registered with the firm
  • The ratio of investment advisors to total number of employees
  • Total assets under management
  • Percentage of discretionary assets under management
  • Total accounts under management
  • Number of states where the RIA is registered
  • Country of domicile
